Organza+chiffon skirts! Pinned but not sewn.
The hem for the chiffon has worked out uneven, but that’s ok. It’s too long in all cases so I’ll just trim it. I’ve ended up with the waist too big, as well. Not sure how I’ll deal with that…probably end up overlapping the bits and then just trimming it away.
Now I just need some confidence to actually sew it all, some horsehair braid, and some more pins! I’ve run out of pins!
Fixing up my standard gown! Going to add a couple if underskirts, one chiffon, one organza (didn’t have any turquoise organza…boo). I’ve made a little miniskirt to attach to the bodysuit, which will then have both layers of skirts attached to that. Don’t ask me how I’ll do that.
I did all my measurements and everything and then realised that my extra skirts should start roughly the level of the godets, so the miniskirt is too long for now, but I’ll leave it just in case.
Off to cut up my chiffon and organza!
Just playing around with my new dress form and some chiffon…wondering whether I could make this as a quick-and-easy thing while I tackle the mental block of actually sewing something, lol.
Only concern is that the chiffon is not stretchy enough…
Progress!

Now, having a duct-tape form was lovely, but I feel that it didn’t really represent my womanly curves. Also she was a bit squishy :-(
But I have a proper dress form now! This means I have not many excuses to procrastinate!
Today I conned my BF into wrapping me in duct tape!
…and we ran out of duct tape! We used 60 metres, and we could have used another 30. I just have to stuff it now.
I’ve received my practise fabric, so hopefully I’ll start making it tonight!
i think i would try a lot harder in life if there were levels and experience points

Well I emailed Elite Crystals last week…and I got my colour chart today! That’s a week postage from Hong Kong!
So now I have to decide…hotfix or flat back? Thinking hotfix has some nicer colours so I’ll just glue them on. If I stick with my black/aqua theme, then aqua bohemica, indicolite, and then some crystal AB and some black diamond AB…should I add a contrasting orange in there? I hate orange…
This is going to cost so much money!
Well hell I posted it from the wrong account…whatevs!
Fuck me. The shop just sent me fabric samples…and they’re nothing at all like what I want!
Cotton lycra is just weird…not at all what I want…and all of the available colours in nylon lycra are, oh, identical to my standard dress. I don’t want to have the same coloured dresses…
But then I’m in love with this glitter chiffon that’s just amazing. And it’s aqua. And all of the nylon colours are aqua.
Fuck me.
What do I do? Black/aqua? Find another shop and make this one sad? Bite my tongue and just go all aqua…?
Grump.
This is my awkward, MS-Paint-looking bang up of a dress. I didn’t have the back of the original one, and I couldn’t see how it would possibly work except for this. I’ve got another idea I might draw up later, but this seems the most likely.
Sometime this week, my darling BF is going to wrap me in duct tape to create a dress form. Hopefully this will coincide with my fabric samples and a sudden influx of sewing talent…
The ugly black bits represent stoning; the weird-ass green shit is meant to be ruffles, and the rest is a bodysuit. The black shows where stoned elastic will be.
So, I’m going to be making a dress.
This dress, or something similar.
As of 4/2/13, I have done a rough design for the back and the front, and I’ve contacted some fabric shops for samples. I have very little idea how to sew. Wish me luck.
